NO LANZAROTE - AGADIR CONNECTION AVAILABLE
Well, these are grate news. Naviera Armas is planning to open a new connection by ferry Lanzarote Agadir (Morocco). After the crash from the Naviera Armas ship " Assalama " wich was allowing the connection Fuerteventura -Tarfaya, this new ferry will give back the ilussions to the canarians to still have a ship going to Morocco from the islands.
It is also a nice way to visit Morocco with a car or a moto. Agadir is a beautiful place, where you can see many cultural events, you can book in all kind of hotels and accommodation facilities, enjoying a magic culture.
The ship going from Fuerteventura to Tarfaya, was always full and many canarians were planning to go this year, as many Irish, English and German people visiting Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were interested in making this trip. Tarfaya is just a fishermen village with only one hotel, but with the connection with the ferry, some people was investing for the future touristic development. The canarian government, the Naviera Armas authorities and also the company that runs the Tarfaya’s port, are negociating to restore the connection Fuerteventura-Tarfaya as soon as posssible. Then, with two ferries to Morocco and back, will be interesting to make a trip to Morocco from Canary Islands, also a deal about the price: just around 50 Euro the ticket. I will post some news when the new ferry become available.
Now, is time for a pin. I will go for a walk and choose one of a random Irish pubs in Lanzarote

Hi,
Do you know if the ferry service between Lanzarote and Morocco has started?
Are there any other boat services operating between the two at the moment?
Regards,
Frank

Tarfaya to Puerto Rosario ferry - I used in February - it was very empty and was delayed leaving Tarfaya because the wind blew the ship back to the jetty - cause of the damage that sunk it? I dont think it will resume but Agadir to Lanzarote? - yes please - saves me 600 miles driving

Till today is no boat services between Lanzarote and Morocco. We are waiting Naviera Armas to release their announced ferry line between Lanzarote to Agadir and there’s also a plan to restore the line between Lanzarote and Tarfaya, but still no news… I will publish here the launchings.

Hi Angela,
no news…still Naviera Armas makes no official comments about the launching. We’re still waiting. Keep visiting this blog, I will post right away any news about lanzarote-agadir new ferry. Have a nice trip!

For the ones following these comments: it is a new delay for the ferry Lanzarote Agadir: now the Moroccan Government is asking a 300.000 Euros warranty to Naviera Armas for operating at the Moroccan ports, and the company is not agreed. So will be more time to wait this negotiation to end…

Has the ferry service started up yet? I want to travel from Morroco to Lanzarote at the beginning of September?
Comment by Joanna Lousley — August 19, 2008 @ 7:24 am
The last news are that Morocco authorities will make a meeting with Naviera Armas managers and other companies implicated at the end of September to define the situation with the ferry.
Until end of September will be no available connection from Lanzarote to Agadir or Lanzarote to other locations in Morocco. We hope they can also re-connect Tarfaya with Fuerteventura. I’ll keep my eye on it.

Any update on the ferry situation now it’s October?
Comment by Daniel Hutchings — October 2, 2008 @ 4:00 pm
Now in October 2008, still is the most absolute silence about this ferry connection announced by Naviera Armas for Lanzarote-Agadir and Lanzarotre-Tarfaya. Naviera Armas says there’s no official news about the negotiations initiated with the Moroccan authorities. The Casa de Africa (institution for cooperation between Canary Islands and Africa), says that the spanish companies investing in Agadir are pressing the Morrocan and Canarian authorities as much as possible to make this ferry connection to work. The lines Boluda recently established connections by ship between Canary Islands and Africa but only for goods and not for passengers. Called Naviera Armas and they say they still can not give any official information about connections with Africa. “-Actually we are not making any ferry connections from Canary Islands to Africa destinations, and there’s not another line making it. In case we plan a new connection we will inform this in the media.”
-”¿there’s a plan to re-connect Fuerteventura with Tarfaya and Arrecife to Agadir?”
-”I have no information about this”.
I think these negociations are complicated because there’s not only commercial interests, also political.
At the Naviera Armas website still are published the old special conditions for Lanzarote-Tarfaya, but any information about new connections.
The rithm of taking decissions here in Canary Islands are really slow compared with other developed places in the world. Is not easy to understand how the companies and the goverments are so complicated to open these connections that for shure will develop touristic areas, commercial and working opportunities…but that also indicates how much the interested parts can ask to the others and may be the price is too high. If I have news, I will publish it right away in the blog.
Leave your voice here, they must know Irish people are also really interested to take these options.

Hi,
What is the situation now. Does anybody knows if there is any ferry/boat between Tarfaya and Canary islands
Thanks for all
Hi Kocak, thanks for visiting my blog http://lanzarote.blogs.ie
By now is the most misterious silence (by ferry companies and also by authorities) about ferry connections between Canary Islands and Morocco.
So, I’m afraid the only way now is by flights: in the comments for this post you can see the contact phone and destinations:
http://lanzarote.blogs.ie/2008/07/21/ferry-lanzarote-agadir-delayed-again/
I phoned Naviera Armas and they have no official plan to restore the ferry to Tarfaya: Morrocan authorities claim a big money warranty to let the company operate in Morocco ports and there’s a lot of pressure from Canarian politics to make the connections but until now, any agreement.
I will post any information related at my blog.

George and anyone else interested. I own several properties in Tarfaya, I bought two years ago when I was riding around the globe. If you need info contact me. I will be in Tarfaya from Nov to Feb 09 to 2110. Jake. PS if you in Tarfaya ask for me. Im very well known. Just ask for Jake anywhere.
Comment by Jake — October 23, 2009 @ 11:59 pm
Hi Jake,
Do you know how likely it would be to charter a sail boat over the the canaries from Tarfaya? Would it be something that could be shared with a group who are interested?
I’d certainly be interested in finding a different way to get the islands without flying or paying £400 one way on a ferry from cadiz.
Comment by Marmaduke Dando Hutchings — October 27, 2009 @ 12:56 pm
How is it to travel by car to TARFAYA from Europe? An endless trip? Expensive because of the toll? Save? Or is the highway patrol your best enemy because of permqnent ticketing?
And what about a ferry to Fuerte?
THX
